DNS-Sendust Cores Series

What is Sendust Core?

Sendust core is a type of magnetic material composed of an alloy made from iron, silicon, and aluminum. It is primarily used in electrical and electronic applications, where high magnetic permeability and low core losses are essential. Sendust cores are typically used in transformers, inductors, chokes, and other magnetic components that require efficient performance over a broad range of frequencies.
Key Characteristics of Sendust Core:
  • Composition: The core is made from a blend of iron (Fe), silicon (Si), and aluminum (Al). This combination results in a material that has both high magnetic permeability and low eddy current losses.
  • Low Magnetorestriction: One of the key properties of Sendust core material is its low magnetorestriction, which means it doesn't cause much change in its magnetic properties under the influence of stress or external forces. This makes it ideal for use in applications that require stable performance, such as in audio and power electronics where low noise is crucial.
  • Frequency Range: Sendust cores can be used effectively in both low-frequency (below 1 MHz) and high-frequency (above 1 MHz) applications. The material’s properties allow it to operate efficiently across a wide frequency range.
  • Thermal Stability: Sendust cores are resistant to thermal aging, meaning their performance remains stable even under changing temperatures. This feature is especially important in environments where temperature fluctuations are common.
  • Permeability: Sendust cores come in different permeability types, typically ranging from 14μ to 160μ, to meet specific design requirements. Permeability is an important factor in determining how well a core material can concentrate magnetic flux.
